Sunday 2 November
Solemnity of All Saints
Apocalypse 7.2-4, 9-14
Psalm 23; 1John 3.1-3
Matthew 5.1-12

Three very different readings are offered to us today to explore this great feast, and investigate what it means to be a saint. The reading from the Book of the Apocalypse offers a great vision of triumph, the crowd are ‘impossible to count’, and ‘of every nation, race, tribe and language’ – it must have been an inspiring and encouraging vision for the small groups of persecuted Christians of the seven churches of John’s audience – just as it should be for Christians today.
